What does your job involve?

Yeast genetics research on protein & gene regulation mediating virulence in Candida albicans morphogenesis & biofilms

How did you get to this job (education etc.)?

Perseverance & determination. And I never stop dreaming.

Do you feel being LGBT has affected your career decisions?

In some ways, yes. Overall, no.

Have you had any reactions from colleagues about being LGBT, either good or bad?

A large amount of bias and exclusion.

Did you have any role models growing up (LGBT, STEM, totally unrelated.)?

Morticia Addams & Elvira, honestly. I hated pink, I never wanted to be like the other girls. I wanted to be creepy, kooky, and drop-dead fierce – just like my research.

What are your plans for the future?

An awesome post doc, fingers crossed
