What does your job involve?
I create problem solving UX/Ui Designs for software applications and modernize archaic military processes with intuitive programming
How did you get to this job (education etc.)?
due to my expertise in military intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance as well as my skills in design
Do you feel being LGBT has affected your career decisions?
It’s made be feel empowered to succeed not only for myself but to represent latinx queers
Have you had any reactions from colleagues about being LGBT, either good or bad?
They are surprised but encouraging of my sexual identity
Did you have any role models growing up (LGBT, STEM, totally unrelated.)?
There are a ton of role models, but it’s been very hard to find a female mentor or better yet a LGBTQ one-I intend on solving this issue with special organizations
What are your plans for the future?
Starting up organizations to train/employ/empower female developers/designers as well as an org for LGBTQ
Anything else you’d like to add?
When I was the only female active duty member on my company-I became inspired to create an initiative for normalizing women in military STEM. I am continuing to pursue this initiative to train female veterans on design and code.
